macOS Sierra major issue regarding Exchange Web Services (EWS) and Mail

Mail in macOS Sierra won't connect to my universities Exchange Account and even messes up with server security measures so that I can no longer log into my account via the in-browser app. Everything is doing fine on my mobile devices (iPhone and iPad with iOS 10).

The connection protocols are all - even though generated on each attempt - empty text documents, there is no error code I can give you. It just says that the connection has failed.

What version of Exchange is your server running? I believe Apple only support Exchange 2010 and later.

There were similar problems between Apple Mail and NHSNet. NHS is the National Health Service here in the United Kingdom and they internally use an old version of Exchange setup in a strange way that was causing problems with El Capitan. See this post Re: NHS.NET mail and el-capitan for a workaround that allowed Mail in El Capitan to successfully connect. You would of course need to modify the URL to match your situation.

Note: iOS devices do not use Exchange Web Services, they use Exchange Active Sync instead, hence why they are not affected by EWS problems.

If your having problems accessing Outlook Web Access via Safari, try Firefox instead.
